Repair Procedures

Packaging and transport

If there there is a need to send electronic components to Megalink for repair, the following procedure should be followed:

  • Find suitable packaging material to avoid damage in transport
  • If electronic units are sent without a cover (e. g. target electronic PCB) there must be anti static material used around the card to avoid static damage. Used packaging from PC equipment etc. can be used. Avoid regular plastic - even plain paper is better!
  • Mark the package with "For repair"
  • A Proforma Invoice  document must be sent with the package. Download the Proforma Invoice Document.
  • Send the equipment as a registered post package if it contains property of significant value
  • Include a note with return address, contact person and error description. This ensures faster and more streamlined handling of repairs.

Un-mounting the electronics in 4Kxxx targets

  • Disconnect the target cables
  • Place the sensor unit on a place with low risk for static discharge (avoid carpets etc.). Avoid touching the electronic components and try to discharge on the chassis before starting the work.
  • Remove the cover for the electronics at the back of the target. Use screw driver with PZ1 bit.
  • Loosen the screws on the bracket holding the electronic card.
  • Pull down the card until the connector for the temperature sensor is unplugged - be careful not to damage the cable to the motor.
  • Remove the lock screws for the microphone cable
  • Unplug the microphone cable from the card
  • Release the card completely and put it in a suitable wrapping

Mounting is basically the opposite procedure! Configuration may be required after replacing a component.

Un-mounting the electronics in other target models

The following chapter describes how to remove the electronics from the targets for 100m-300m.

  • Disconnect the target cables
  • Lower the sensor unit carefully - avoid damage on the microphones and the temperature sensor
  • Place the sensor unit on a place with low risk for static discharge (avoid carpets etc.). Avoid touching the electronic components and try to discharge on the chassis before starting the work.
  • Turn the sensor unit upside down without damaging the sensors
  • Remove the bottom plate or profile:
    • Wood or plastic plate: Remove the three bolts. Collect all distance pieces and washers
    • Plastic profile: Unscrew the plate screw and pull off the profile
  • Remove the two screws for the electronic cover and pull out the card from the sensor bar. Remove the lock screws for the microphone cable
  • Unplug the microphone cable from the card
  • Release the card completely and put it in suitable wrapping

Mounting is basically the opposite procedure. Check that the microphone cables are placed behind the electronic card to avoid damage. Try to mount the bottom plate and sensor rod in center.  Configuration can be required after replacing a unit.
